Messy electrical panel directory
🔍 No Space👎 Unprofessional🤷 Generic
✍️ Bad Handwritting😵‍💫 Abbreviations
😷 Yellowing🖊️ Permanite Marker😤 Not Useful

We fixed electrical panel directories.

The directory is afterthought for electrical panel manufacturers. Their sticker has no space to write anything useful. You can fit maybe one or two words max. Scribbled in the little space that's left if there's even any at all. Causing labels to be abbrevated, generatic and vague.

Labels like "Bedroom #1 and Bedroom #2."
How do you know which bedrooms these are in a house with four bedrooms… Technically this isn't wrong… Generic labeling is required by code. But it's NO help to anyone..

How it works

  1. Build your Circuit Directory to match your electrical panel breaker-by-breaker.
  2. Document each circuit using your own words. Add labels, descriptions, and images.
  3. Download a print-ready copy for the panel and keep a digital copy online.

Adding Breakers

Directory & panel match

Each new circuit directory starts empty. Add one breaker at a time. This allows you to match your electrical panel breaker for breaker.

Adjacent to the panel door

The National Electrical Code now permits circuit directories to be placed on the face, inside of, or adjacent to the panel door. This rule accommodates larger, more detailed directories that might not fit inside the panel cover.

Half the time it's not even a real service call. They tripped a GFCI and didn't know where to look. A breaker kicked and they're not sure which one. You can see their panel from your desk and solve it with a two-minute phone call instead of a 45 minute drive.

Some of the nice things people have said about Circuit Directory

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I kept dragging my feet on this for years because it sounded tedious. Honestly it was hard at all and was best DIY project I've done. No more flipping random breakers. Everything is well labeled now. I can turn off anything in the house on the first try.

Homeowner
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We use these on our home builds. Our quality has really slipped here. My client let me know that we missed spelled Dinning and that was the final straw for me. Very emebarizing. This tool has done a great job fixing that.

Bradley Homes LLC
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I wish original installs were somehow required to be better done....seems most all are just almost chicken scratch abbreviations of the circuits. Just makes it really had to work on clients homes. This is a new SOP at our company.

Questions about the software

Do I need to download an app?
No. Circuit Directory is a web-based application, so any camera phone with internet works — iPhone or Android, no app store. You'll need an account with us to create directories, but not to view or edit them afterward. Once a directory exists, anyone at the panel can scan the QR code, enter the PIN, and update it right in their browser — no account or password needed.
Does it work without an internet connection?
An internet connection is required to view and edit your panel directory. We recommend bookmarking your panel page for quick access in areas with poor signal.
What is the physical directory?
It's the print-ready copy you place at the panel — a mirror of your real panel's layout, showing the label, amperage, and protection type for each breaker. The QR code and PIN are printed right on it, so the same sheet gets you into the digital version online.
What's the PIN for?
It gates access so the directory isn't wide open to anyone who happens to photograph your panel. Scanning gets you to it; the PIN lets you in. Anyone standing at the panel can read the PIN off the printed directory, which is the intent — it stops random people on the web, not the people you actually want in there.
Who can view and edit the online directory?
Anyone on-site who scans the QR code and enters the PIN can view, edit, and contribute — homeowners, electricians, and builders alike. That's deliberate: every trade can add what they know without needing a separate login.
Can I control who sees the directory?
The directory is protected by a PIN, visible to anyone with the printed directory at the panel. If you're the owner, you can share the online link and set viewing permissions for others.
Is my data secure?
Yes — all data is stored securely and transmitted over encrypted connections. Worth being precise: "secure" means encrypted, not private-by-default. By design, anyone with the QR code and PIN (i.e. anyone at the panel) can view and edit. It's shared access on purpose, protected from the open internet.
Can I reset my PIN?
Email us and we'll reset it for you.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Your data stays accessible for a grace period after cancellation, so nothing disappears unexpectedly. Full details are in our terms of service.
Can I brand the directory as my own company?
Yes. White-label branding removes Circuit Directory branding and shows your company name, logo, and contact details instead — on the access screen and under the Contact Us button. Effectively a billboard inside every panel you touch.

Questions about pricing

What's the difference between the two plans?
The only thing that differs is how long you have access and how your data is stored. The $40 one-time plan gives you a 30-day window of access. The $200/year plan is ongoing access plus cloud storage and hosting. Both include unlimited directories — the only difference is how long you have to work in the tool and your online data storage.
Is there a limit on how many directories I can create?
No. Both plans include unlimited directories. The only thing that's limited is time — the one-time plan gives you a 30-day window to build them, while the yearly plan keeps your access open continuously.
What's your refund policy?
Both plans come with a money-back guarantee, and the yearly plan can be cancelled anytime.
Can I claim a panel from my contractor?
Maybe. Contact support and we can transfer ownership to your account — as long as there's no active subscription on that panel. If your electrician, builder, or contractor has it under an active subscription, it can't move until that subscription ends or you have their written permission.
