Questions about the software
Do I need to download an app?
No. Circuit Directory is web-based, so any camera phone with internet works — iPhone or Android, no app store. You'll need an account with us to create directories, but not to view or edit them afterward. Once a directory exists, anyone at the panel can scan the QR code and work in it right in their browser.
How do I get into a panel?
Three ways, and all three land in the same place — full access to read and edit. Scan the QR code on the panel: the access code is built into it, so point your camera and you're in. Tap a shared link: it carries the same code, for anyone who isn't standing at the panel. Or log in to your account: if you own the panel, open it from your dashboard, no code needed. There's nothing to type in any of them.
How do I give someone access?
Use the Share button — that's the only place a working link comes from. Copying the web address out of your browser won't work: once you're in, the code is stripped out of the address bar, so what you'd be copying is a dead link. That's on purpose. It means access only ever gets handed out deliberately. Anyone who's already in can share, not just the owner.
Who can view and edit the online directory?
Anyone who scans the QR at the panel or taps a link you've shared — homeowners, electricians, inspectors, builders alike. There's no view-only mode and no limited version: if you're in, you're in. That's deliberate. Every trade can add what they know without needing a separate login.
Can I cut off access?
Yes — the owner can reset the link from the dashboard. It's the only way to shut off access short of deleting the panel, and it's a real reset: the old shared links and the printed QR code die together, because they're the same code. The panel label has to be reprinted. Anyone already working in the panel keeps access for up to 24 hours after a reset.
Is my panel private?
Yes, always — there's no public/private setting to manage. Without the code you get a page telling you that you need the share link, and that's all: nothing to type, no password, no way to guess in. Knowing the panel's web address on its own gets you nothing. All data is stored securely and sent over encrypted connections. Worth being precise, though: anyone holding the code — including anyone standing at the panel — can view and edit. That's shared access on purpose, closed off from the open internet.
What is the physical directory?
It's the print-ready copy you place at the panel — a mirror of your real panel's layout, showing the label, amperage, and protection type for each breaker. The QR code is printed right on it, so the same sheet opens the digital version.
Does it work without an internet connection?
No — an internet connection is required to view and edit your panel directory. In areas with poor signal, the printed copy at the panel still does its job.
Can I brand the directory as my own company?
Yes. White-label branding removes Circuit Directory branding and shows your company name, logo, and contact details instead — on the access screen and under the Contact Us button. Effectively a billboard inside every panel you touch.

How long are my directories online?
We keep an online version of your directory stored on our servers. You're able to add and edit information while your license is active. Once your license expires you'll only be able to read the information — editing isn't available without a license renewal.
